What We Do
The Friends of the Dover Public Library is a non-profit organization supporting our library through fundraising, volunteering, and advocacy. Since our inception in 1977, the Friends of the Dover Library in Dover, New Hampshire have supplemented the library’s budget, providing funding for equipment, prizes and awards, museum passes, technology improvements, and many service enhancements. We’ve sponsored countless educational and cultural programs, slide shows, converts, and authors visits. In short, we fund the fun stuff!
We are always looking for new friends to help with developing new programs, fundraising, and volunteering at our events. Whether you choose to participate once a year, be active throughout the year, help out with a specific project or event, or just contribute an annual donation, your commitment will be appreciated.
Our Goals:
- Create public support for our library
- Encourage all citizens to use the library and its services
- Sponsor programs that contribute to Dover’s educational and cultural life
- Encourage gifts, endowments, and memorials
Most years, the Friends host book sales in the Spring and Fall to help raise money to support the library. Due to the library’s ongoing renovation in 2025, the book sales are on hiatus, but we are actively seeking donations to help us support this renovation project. You can also find us out at community events like the Cochecho Arts Festival, Apple Harvest Day, and Dover Days at the Woodman Museum.
Our board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month and all friends are welcome to join.
